Education must be cutting edge and adaptable in the 21st Century and beyond. Kids are learning in new ways and as educators we must be willing to grow and evolve with the times. One barrier that prevent true integration of technology tools is money. Technology is not cheap. We must be good stewards over any grant money and funds we receive and use them to maximum for the betterment of the learning process and our students. Some of them are teacher-related. Teachers must now become proficient in more than one area of the classroom learning experience. Teachers must be willing to learn how to use and use properly new technology that is introduced in the classroom. Teachers must also examine what their future roles in the classroom will look like. I can just imagine what the classrooms will look like in K-12 schools in 5 to 10 years.
I personally believe classrooms will be a thing of the past. Kids can sit at home and have their teacher instruct them from their homes. Kids can just click on a screen and have access to the entire unit or week’s worth of work and instructional material. Classrooms will become technology labs. Adult learners will soon be able to just sign-in and click a button to “attend class” for their academic progress. I fear that technology will lose some of that PERSONAL INTERACTION, FACE-TO-FACE that is so vital in education and learning.
